Secret To Success-In a Challenging Economy

By Sanda Limcomb / VoIP Today
October 15, 2009

In today’s challenging economy, we met with Principal Owner of Executive Telephony, Inc. to find out their secret of success. Here is what Rik Holliday had to say.

“We have new challenges like we have never seen before. We see some business’s failing while others are increasing their market share and profitability. I’m proud to say that we (Executive Telephony, Inc.) are on the growing side. It’s actually pretty simple-we embrace change. We are all over working smarter and increasing productivity through reducing overhead using current technology”.

“Slightly more than 1% of our business this fiscal year has been generated by start-up businesses. We are converting current customers from platforms like Shortel and their ShorePhone IP Phones and ShoreWare Director solutions. We hear from our clients that they were not aware of the high cost of business after year one with the Shortel products and Cisco’s Communicator and Cisco UCS solutions. Although they are both great solutions, they’re simply very expensive to run and they are ‘Closed’ source. This means that phones and all replacement hardware are proprietary and thus costly. Consumers are savvy enough to say ‘enough’.”

“We formed some very tight partnerships with proven manufactures that allow our customers to spend a fraction of their hard earned dollars while enjoying enhanced features not found on our competitors such as Shortel and Cisco. We developed Apps such as RemoteDial which allows the client to use their cell phones to make free cellular calls when using the IProphet PBX. With cellular costs going through the roof, the saving along with RemoteDial can cost often cost justify moving forward with the IProphet”.

“We are currently testing our iPhone SIP App that allows Apple iPhone users to use their phones to make calls while avoiding cellular minutes. It’s pretty spectacular. AT&T has locked their port 5060 to avoid this. Our iPhone SIP App offers enhanced features such as all calls being recorded and tracked for verification and “Quality control” if desired. When customers phone a user, the iPhone using the iPhone SIP Application can receive and make calls free of charge outside the Wi-Fi connections. Employees can be located anywhere in the world and use their iPhone like a standard business phone. Users can even place callers on hold, transfer and/or conference call”.
