Turin , January 10, 2006 – With just one month remaining before the start of the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, Worldwide Olympic Partner Samsung has nearly completed its Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung (OR@S) pavilion. Located in Piazza Solferino , the heart of the historic city center , the 1,225 square meter venue will be the center piece of Samsung's on-site Olympic programs for fans and athletes at the Torino Games. Construction is set to be completed by February 1.

A s a must-see attraction at the Olympic Games since its first appearance in Sydney in 2000, OR@S has welcomed more than 2.1 million people in Sydney , Salt Lake City in 2002 and Athens in 2004 combined. Just as Athens 2004, OR@S is designated as ‘ Official Meeting Place for Athletes and their Families' for Torino 2006 by TOROC.

The design of the Torino 2006 OR@S was inspired by the influence of Italian style and the Olympic spirit. Gold was chosen as the main color of the venue in honor of its symbolism of success and top performance, and a sloping roof was created to resemble the rolling hills surrounding Torino .

The OR@S consists of two separate areas: the Athlete Center , for competitors and their families, and the Spectator Center , which will showcase some of Samsung's contributions to the world of wireless communications featur ing product showcases, special exhibits and live entertainment.

The Athlete Center , “ Official Meeting Place for Athletes and their Families”, on the top floor of the OR@S, is a home away from home for athletes – a place where they can relax and rest with their families in private, away from the intense pressure of competition. Visiting athletes can take advantage of free snack, drinks. In ATHENS 2004, over 9,000 athletes had visited OR@S and sent over 115,000 emails and over 7,500 athletes had made use of free ‘Share the Experience Calls' to keep in touch with their families and friends.

The Spectator Center is an indoor area for fans to rest, relax and have fun with daily entertainment programs, like a technology showcase featuring cutting-edge Samsung products, and appearances from athletes, including Alberto Tomba , Samsung's global athlete ambassador. Fans can experience the official Torino 2006 mobile phone, the SGH-D600, which features Wireless Olympic Works (WOW) , Samsung's advanced wireless information service that provides Olympic officials with crucial, up-to-the-minute information necessary to run the largest sporting event in the world. Prototypes of Samsung's latest mobile phones such as SGH- Z510, SGH-D820 and SGH-D800 phones will be on display . Also, Samsung will demonstrate WiBro (Mobile WiM ax ) during the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games offering multimedia conferencing (MMC), and Push-to-All (PTA) services.
“The Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung has been one of the most popular spots for athletes and fans since Sydney 2000 ,” said Jong Yong Yun, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics. “This venue reflects our support for Olympic athletes and their families, and shows our commitment to and passion for sport s . We are excited to be able to share the Olympic experience with people from all over the world and we invite everyone to visit us in Torino .”
